The first needles and leaves are just starting to open on the small trees and shrubs, the grasses sprouting, and ferns are beginning to poke their fiddle heads through the mosses and leaves. This is where a small spring creek flows into a small pond. A few of last year's cat tails are still standing.

The sun has set and as the last vestages of daylight peacefully fade a shift of activity occurs. The nocturnal animals start to become active. It is at this time of day (and year) that the owls decide on the local territories and pecking order for the coming season.
