Spring Owls and Frogs © Boreal Forest MP3
Spring Owls and Frogs from the Boreal Forest is a perfect set of relaxation sounds that brings instant smiles. Great horned owls hoot, squawk, and puff. There are strong and strident spring peepers, and wood frogs whose calls have a fragile cute child-like sound. In the background, there is a barely perceptable velvety texture created by the trilling of toads, and the mystical, etheral, fluttering sound of the wings of the night-hawk. It is late May, at the end of the warmest and sunniest day of spring so far. The ice has left the lakes. The first needles and leaves are just starting to open on the small trees and shrubs, the grasses sprouting, and ferns are beginning to poke their fiddle heads through the mosses and leaves. This is where a small spring creek flows into a small pond. A few of last year's cat tails are still standing. The sun has set and as the last vestages of daylight peacefully fade a shift of activity occurs. The nocturnal animals start to become active. It is at this time of day (and year) that the owls decide on the local territories and pecking order for the coming season. Spring Owls and Frogs © features a long 10 second fade-in at the beginning and a slow fade-out at the end so there are no sudden disturbing interruptions when played looped. Spring Owls and Frogs © is a natural soundscape composed of edited and mixed digital stereo quasi-binaural field recordings. This recording technique produces a 3 dimensional audio image when listening with headphones. Encoded at a bitrate of 192 kps for quality listening.
