River Sounds © MP3
River Sounds © was recorded on a calm cool summer morning on the York River (upstream from High Falls in Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada). Late summer and the flow is shallow slow and relaxed. Water bubbles around rocks, eddies swirl, and a thousand circular points of sounds float from the river. I have to step and hop from rock to rock to position the microphone tripod in the middle of all these points of sound. Wires ran from the microphones on one rock to the recording equipment on another. The sun peaks through the trees, lighting up sparkles and floating bubbles on the singing river. The result is a beautiful, lively, vibrant yet relaxing, constant sound. Ideal for background ambience, for masking other sounds particularly conversation, or for meditation. There are a few bird chirps in the background at points. Other than that it is pure sounds of running water. River Sounds © features a long fade-in at the beginning and a slow fade-out at the end, so there are no sudden disturbing changes in sound volume when played looped. River Sounds © is a natural soundscape composed of edited digital stereo quasi-binaural field recordings. This recording technique produces a 3 dimensional audio image when listening with headphones. Encoded at a bitrate of 192 kps for quality listening.
