Moody chickadees protest as a light freezing rain falls on snow. You can hear the super–cooled water droplets sizzle as they instantly freeze into ice on impact! This recording has good depth with a clear crystalline atmosphere. It is one of my favorites! Its very, very peaceful. When one starts to listen to this soundscape, the closer and louder raindrops attract your attention. Then, as one continues to listen, one's attention is drawn deeper into the soundscape, by following the progressively fainter raindrops. A feeling of immense, gentle, quiet space emerges, which contrasts with the flitting smallness and fragility that the chickadees portray. The birds also serve to set the stereo *field* and create a rhythmic counterpoint to the light rain. Digital field recording.
