Relax to the joyful sounds of winter birds in the Boreal Forest. As the rising sun filters through the trees, a medley of birdsong fills the air from a large flock of redpolls. A continuous twitter, trill and chirp envelops the area, as the flock slowly moves through the treetops. An incredibly intricate audio weave emerges as the tiny birds "leap-frog" around each other, singing in trills, light chirps and single light ascending whistles.

Other birds occasionally join in, contrasting with the flock. A single blue jay sings with a strong "cheeer... cheeer..." and a woodpecker drills a few times in the distance. Further into the recording a nuthatch's faint nasal "waa,waa,waa..." repeats, and a raven makes a noise-like "kerplunk" and a "Awk, Awk, Awk" sound. As the sun rises, the redpoll flock slowly gives way to evening grosbeaks who call with their single decisive "Chirp!". Every individual contributes their part to form a rich evolving intricate tapestry of natural sound.

Boreal Winter Birds © features a long short fade-in at the beginning and the birds fly away at the end so there are no sudden interruptions when played looped. Boreal Winter Birds © is a natural soundscape composed of edited digital stereo quasi-binaural field recordings. There is no extra mixing, looping, or layering of voices to increase the number of birds singing. This recording technique produces a 3 dimensional audio image when listening with headphones. Encoded at a bitrate of 192 kps for quality listening.
